Now Your Food Has Riboflavin, Niacin, and Carbon Footprint

Sept 19 (FOXnews) - Food labels generally alert us to the unhealthy bits in the food we eat.

Now, supermarkets around the world are expanding the approach by adding labels that warn of the environmentally unhealthy bits in the food we buy.

Many consumers are already familiar with energy efficiency ratings on dishwashers and light bulbs, so it is not that surprising to see the trend reaching down grocery aisles.

"There's savings to be found for every product," said Euan Murray of the Carbon Trust in London.

The Carbon Trust is a non-profit organization started... More

When the EU Claims Unfair Taxation History Cringes

Sept 18 -(Associated Press) - The European Union should avoid imposing a "carbon tax" on countries that haven't agreed to cut their global warming emissions, the E.U.'s top trade official said in a speech Thursday.

Such a tax would raise operating costs for manufacturers and could provoke retaliation from the E.U.'s trading partners in the form of new tariffs on E.U. exports, according to a speech in Oslo by Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson.

"Right now we should be focusing on building a global coalition for a new global climate treaty," Mandelson said. "Tough talk on... More

Apparently Banks Don't View Trees as Financial Assets

Sept 16 (Reuters) - Lehman Brothers shut down its carbon emissions trading desk after the bank filed for bankruptcy protection, a source close to the company told Reuters on Monday.

"Everything's stopped, blocked ... it's a bit anarchic," he said.
Lehman declined to comment on the matter.

The US investment bank filed for Chapter 11 protection on Monday while Merrill Lynch, also plagued by toxic, mortgage-related debt, agreed to be bought by Bank of America Merrill's carbon desk was open as usual on Monday, a source familiar with the bank said.

The Doom Brigade Finds a New Target Named Nitrogen

Sept 15 (Miami Herald) - Scientists are raising alarms about yet another threat to Earth's climate and human well-being. This time it's nitrogen, a common element essential to all life.

For years, people have been bombarded with warnings about the harmful effects of carbon - especially in the form of carbon dioxide (CO2), a greenhouse gas widely blamed for global warming.

Now, it's becoming clear that human activities, such as driving cars and raising crops, also are boosting nitrogen to dangerous levels - polluting air and water and damaging human health.

Old Farmers Agree that Gore and His Flunkies are Morons

Sept 12 (Associated Press) -   The Old Farmer's Almanac is going further out on a limb than usual this year, not only forecasting a cooler winter, but looking ahead decades to suggest we are in for global cooling, not warming.

Based on the same time-honored, complex calculations it uses to predict weather, the Almanac hits the newsstands on Tuesday saying a study of solar activity and corresponding records on ocean temperatures and climate point to a cooler, not warmer, climate, for perhaps the next half century.

Washington Apparently Drilling For More Than Oil

Sept 11 (Associated Press) - A scandal involving sex, drugs and — uh, offshore oil drilling.

It's a strange mix, and it couldn't have come at a worse time for those in Congress pressing to expand oil and gas development off America's beaches while trying to stave off an election-year rush by Democrats to impose new taxes and royalties on the oil industry.

An Interior Department investigation describing a "culture of substance abuse and promiscuity" by workers at the agency that issues offshore drilling leases and collects royalties hit lawmakers Wednesday just as they prepa... More

Unlike Al Gore, Google Actually Has An Answer.

Sept 10 (The Inquirer) - Want to solve the looming global warming crisis? Just ask Google chief Eric Schmidt what to do, because apparently, reducing dependence on oil and moving to greener energy is just a "math problem" to him.

Talking at the sinister sounding Corporate EcoForum, Schmidt lectured energy retarded execs from companies ranging from Motorola to Coca-Cola about sustainability.

According to the big green boss of Google's calculations, if America switched to renewable energy and ensured at least half of all cars on the roads were electrical hybrids, glo... More

Green Guilt 101 For Those Riding the Short Bus

Sept 9 (TheSentinel) - Much as been said about carbon footprints, credits and offsets. But what, if anything, does it all mean?  Well, your carbon footprint is what your existence on the planet contributes to the carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere and, therefore, “global warming.”

The theory goes like this: if you live the life of a contributing member of society, your existence is more of a blight on the planet than that of your Neanderthal ancestor. Of course, your odds of being eaten by a pterodactyl are considerably lower than... More

Global Warming Destroyed Rainforests 300 Million Years Ago...Hippies Blame Oil Companies

Sept 8 (PhysOrg.com) - Spectacular discoveries of fossil forests show that global warming wiped out the first rainforests to evolve on our planet.

The fossil forests were found in underground coalmines in Illinois by a team led by Dr Howard Falcon-Lang of the University of Bristol and scientists from the Smithsonian Institution and the Illinois Geological Survey.

The new research will be publicised at an event on Climate change in the past: the latest evidence from fossil plants and animals at the BA Festival of Science in Liverpool on Monday 8 September.

The Only True Wisdom Lies in Knowing That Gore Knows Nothing!

Sept 5 (The Telegraph) - Al Gore's Oscar-winning environmental documentary exaggerated the likely effects of global warming on sea levels, a new study shows.

The film, An Inconvenient Truth, suggested that the sea would rise up to 20ft "in the near future" as the ice in Greenland or Western Antarctica melts.

Other documentaries have picture Britain deluged with water, showing the House of Commons submerged.

However, while some mainstream predictions project sea levels 2 to 4 meters higher by 2100, a new study published today in Science concludes that a rise in sea le... More
